
Tanzania has a number of Partners who are supporting the Health sector in different areas including HIV/AIDS, Maternal Newborn Health and Human Resources for Health.
Benjamin William Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation (BMAF) is working in close partnership with the Government of Tanzania, Non Governmental Organisation and Development partners to complement the national efforts in response to HIV/AIDS pandemic and other aspects related to strengthening of health systems and service delivery.
BMAF works in close collaboration with the Government institutions particularly the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) of both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar; Prime Minister's Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) and Presidents Office Public Service Management (POPSM).
Under the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, the Foundation is particularly working closely with the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), the Directorate of Human Resource Development and Directorate of Personnel and Administration.
Partnership with the PMORALG is further extended and attached to the 134 Local Government Authorities, whereas the BMAF Programmes are being implemented.
There have been various Development Partners that support the district health system strengthening and service delivery through our BMAF innovative programmes which include Royal Norwegian Embassy, Global Fund to fight against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM); Clinton Health Access Initiative; USAID; World Lung Foundation and Abbott Fund.
Other Development Partners that joins forces with BMAF in providing technical and financial assistance to the Health sector include the World Health Organization (WHO), Swiss Development Cooperation, Canadian International Development Agency, World Bank, GIZ, Royal Netherlands Embassy, Irish Aid and USAID.

Foundation partners with Intrahealth International through generous funding support of USAID in enhancing the Human Resource for Health Management (HRM) through advocacy, policy dialogue and strengthening capacity of managers on HRM in 54 districts.
Moreover our institution is collaborating with World Lung Foundation in improving Maternal and Newborn Health Services in Iramba and Singida Rural district councils.
The Institutions continues being the beneficiary of Global Fund under the lead recipient – Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, whereas through Round 9 the Foundation is reaching 70 Tanzanian districts by enhancing Health systems particularly Health workforce production, recruitment and retention.
As from November 2011 the Foundation is partnering with the Abbott Fund in strengthening Laboratory services through recruitment and deployment of Laboratory technologist to 10 Regional hospitals that were rehabilitated /constructed through support of Abbott Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
Mkapa Foundation has continued working hand in hand with other local and international organisations at national and district levels in advancing HIV/AIDS services and improving the district health systems.
