Tanzania has a number of Partners who are supporting the Health sector in different avenues including HIV/AIDS, Maternal Newborn Health and Human Resources for Health.
The Benjamin William Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation (BMAF) is working in close partnership with the Government of United Republic of Tanzania, Non Governmental Organisation, Development partners and Corporates to support the national efforts in response to HIV/AIDS pandemic and other health services.
We are a trusted partner of the Government of Tanzania whereas we work closely with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) of both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar; Prime Minister's Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) and Presidents Office Public Service Management (POPSM).
Under the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, the Foundation is particularly working closely with the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), the Directorate of Human Resource Development and Directorate of Personnel and Administration.
Partnership with the PMORALG is further extended and attached to the 134 Local Government Authorities, whereas the BMAF Programmes are being operationalised.
There have been various Development Partners that support the health sector through our BMAF innovative programmes which include Royal Norwegian Embassy, Global Fund to fight against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM); Clinton Health Access Initiative; USAID; World Lung Foundation and Abbott Fund.
Royal Norwegian Ambassador, Inguinn Klepsvik given an orientation of Data collection and Dissemination at HMIS, Newala District Hospital.
We further partner with International organisations such as Intrahealth International and Management Science for Health in implementing the Tanzania Human Resource Capacity Project under the funding from USAID, which aims to strengthen Human Resource for Health within the country

Other Development Partners that joins forces with BMAF in providing technical and financial assistance to the Health sector include the World Health Organization (WHO), Swiss Development Cooperation, Canadian International Development Agency, World Bank, GIZ, Royal Netherlands Embassy, Irish Aid and USAID. In year 2012, the Foundation has expanded its partnership with Corporate sector for supporting the Mkapa Fellows Programme Phase 2 with the aim of enhancing country ownership and sustainability. This is largely focused on benefitting from the Corporate Social Responsibilities of existing in-country Corporate and Private sector. For more information click here
Nevertheless we have continued working hand in hand with other local organisations at national and district levels in advancing HIV/AIDS services and improving the district health systems.
