30 Constructed Houses Are Handed Over To Health Workers In Mtwara Region.
Former President of United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Benjamin William Mkapa has haded over 30 houses for health workers in Mtwara Rural, Newala and Masasi Districts in Mtwara Region.

Speaking during hand over ceremony, Former President who is also the Settler for Benjamin William Mkapa HIV/AIDS Foundation urged the three District Councils where the houses have been built to make sure they are kept well and renovated regularly. He advised the Districts to include in their budget costs for renovating the houses when need arise. Also the Former President urged the management teams at the District councils to avail medicine and enough health workers to the health facilities where the houses have been built, while recognizing that the houses have been built in hard to reach rural areas.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer for Mkapa Foundation, Dr. Ellen Mkondya-Senkoro gave a breakdown of the cost construction of the 50 houses in Mtwara Region as Tshs 3.2 Billion.

The colorful ceremony was held in December 19th. 2012 at Imekuwa village in Mtwara Rural District and attended by Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi who recognized Mkapa Foundation’s initiatives in implementing various policies and strategies in bringing development in the health sector.

The 30 houses are among the 50 houses built in Mtwara, while the remaining 20 houses are in the final stage on completion and will be handed over to the District Councils of Tandahimba, Newala and Nanyumbu, Masasi.

Others who attended the ceremony were The Minister at Prime Minister’s office, Regional Authority who is also the Member of Parliament in Mtwara Rural and member on the Board of Trustees for Mkapa Foundation, Honourable Hawa Abdulrahman Ghasia and also Chairman for the Mkapa Foundation Board of Trustees, Major Retired Herman Lupogo.
The construction of the houses was handled by Companies of Arques Africa and executed by Namis Construction.
